Wooden
Calls
The secret of producing a good wooden call is starting with quality woods. During
the early stages of callmaking, callmakers were only limited to their native
wood. As the years went by and the wood procuring process become available,
callmakers began searching for wood which had vast density, dependability and
durability for the harsh and adverse conditions of duckhunting. Two of the most
consistent woods found containing these characteristics were Bois d' arc, and
Cocabola. Each Gaston wooden call is finished with three coats of sealant which
will protect the call and its beauty for years to come. They are available in
Field and Timber models. Some duck hunters prefer wood calls for their tonal
qualities and traditional appeal. To me, a wooden duck call is next to a shotgun
in each hunters list of heirlooms.
From time to time, Gaston Custom calls turns certain custom
wood calls not listed through the website, to inquire further
about their availability please e-mail or call David.
The Double Duck
Gaston Custom Calls very own double reed call. With a
few simple modifications, you can have your Gaston duck
call converted to our special double reed design which
gives the call that low end whine and deep nasally sound
without sacrificing all of the high end duck.
